The selected candidate will assist the Chief Inspector/Resident Engineer in overseeing construction activities related to structural repairs, masonry restoration, and building envelope rehabilitation at several municipal facilities, including community centers, fire stations, and legacy civic buildings. This position will play a key role in ensuring that structural work is performed in accordance with contract documents, safety standards, and engineering best practices.Scope of WorkThe Structural/Field Engineer will support inspection and oversight activities for projects involving rehabilitation of municipal buildings and infrastructure. These facilities include community centers, fire department facilities, civic buildings, and other City-owned structures undergoing capital improvements.Typical construction activities include:• Structural stabilization and reinforcement• Masonry restoration and façade repairs• Building envelope rehabilitation• Roof structural repairs and support systems• Window and door replacement affecting structural framing• Structural retrofits and reinforcement of aging systems• Coordination with MEP upgrades impacting structural components• Hazardous material remediation affecting structural elementsThe Structural Field Inspector will work closely with the Chief Inspector and project team to ensure that construction work meets engineering specifications, safety requirements, and municipal standards.Key Responsibilities• Perform field inspections of structural construction activities, including masonry, concrete, and steel work.• Verify contractor compliance with structural drawings, specifications, and applicable building codes.• Inspect structural repairs, reinforcement work, and stabilization measures.• Monitor construction activities related to masonry restoration, façade repairs, and building envelope systems.• Observe installation of structural components associated with roof support systems and retrofits.• Coordinate with the Chief Inspector and contractors regarding construction sequencing and inspection findings.• Assist in the review of shop drawings, RFIs, and field modifications related to structural work.• Maintain daily inspection reports and documentation of field observations.• Coordinate materials testing and inspections for structural components.• Identify structural deficiencies or safety concerns and escalate issues to the Chief Inspector / Resident Engineer.Minimum Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline.• Minimum 7 years of experience in structural inspection or construction inspection.• Demonstrated experience inspecting masonry, concrete, and structural steel systems.• Knowledge of structural stabilization techniques and rehabilitation of existing structures.• Experience interpreting structural drawings and specifications.• Ability to perform detailed field inspections and maintain accurate documentation.Preferred Qualifications• Experience with rehabilitation of historic or aging municipal structures.• Expertise in structural shoring, stabilization techniques, and load path verification.• Experience inspecting structural retrofits and building envelope failures.• Professional Engineer (PE) license is desirable.• Preferred Certifications• ICC Structural Inspector or NICET certification• Additional construction inspection certifications related to structural systems.Typical Inspection Areas• Structural stabilization and reinforcement• Masonry restoration and façade repairs• Building envelope structural repairs• Roof framing and support systems• Structural retrofits and reinforcement of existing structuresLocation Requirement: Candidates must be located within 35 miles of Mount Vernon, NY and available for on-site inspection activities during construction phases.Compensation• The good-faith salary range for this position is $65-$85 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and client requirements.• Candidates with greater depth of experience or specialized expertise may fall toward the higher end of the range, and exceptional candidates may be considered for compensation outside of this range, consistent with client budget and company policy.Benefits Summary• 401(k) and 401(k) Employer Matching.• Health Insurance.• Dental Insurance.• Group Life Insurance, LTD and AD&D.• Paid Time Off.• Paid Holidays.• Professional Development Assistance.EEO Diversity Statement
