This role will provide leadership and direct oversight of the financial aid processes and procedures and assist the division to accomplish institutional goals and objectives.Duties/ResponsibilitiesSupervise and conduct annual performance evaluations of financial aid staff.Assist in the day-to-day operations within the Financial Aid division providing support for the Director of Financial AidResponsible for determining eligibility for various sources of financial assistance through the use of federal and institutional needs analysis.Responsible for daily operations associated with the processing of student applications for the determination of eligibility for state, federal and institutional financial aid funding sources administered by the institute.Advise and counsel students and parents, providing guidance related to the financial aid process.Maintain knowledge of state and federal programs and related software and/or web-based applications required to participate in various assistance programs.Serve on college task forces, committees and councils as required. Offer exceptional customer service in a student-centered, professional environment at all times.Oversees and prepares Hazelwood reports for semesterly and annual submissions for veteran and dependent students. Upholds and agrees to comply with all federal, state, and local requirements pertaining to the security, confidentiality, and privacy of information maintained by institution, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).Evenings and weekends may be required.Other duties as assigned.Minimum/Preferred QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:An associate’s degree from a regionally accredited university. Three years of work experience in financial aid in higher educationPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university. Above average skills in the utilization of computer systems, Banner, Argos, and Microsoft Office applicationsSupplemental InformationPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:This position requires the ability to: remain in a stationary position for most of the time; occasionally move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; constantly operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine.Lamar Institute of Technology is an E-Verify Employer.This position is security-sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history recordinformation.
