This role operates with moderate supervision, demonstrating increased independence in managing day-to-day engineering tasks and cross-functional integration. The engineer acts as a key technical liaison between disciplines, program management, suppliers, and stakeholders to help ensure technical objectives, schedules, and deliverables are achieved in accordance with program goals.ResponsibilitiesSupport the technical planning and execution of assigned defense and aerospace engineering projectsAssist in the development and maintenance of integrated master schedules as well as inchstone plans and work packages in coordination with program and engineering teamsParticipate in and support cross-functional Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)Coordinate basic engineering inputs across disciplines (mechanical, electrical, systems, software)Assist with identification and tracking of program risks and opportunitiesContribute to the development of engineering project plans and integration activitiesHelp develop and maintain statements of work (SOWs) and support subcontract managementAssist in trade studies, hardware procurement planning, and make/buy analysesSupport preparation for and participation in design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and customer meetingsDraft and review engineering documentation including test plans, ECNs, and interface documentationEnsure adherence to program deliverables, CDRLs, and contract requirements under guidanceRequired QualificationsU.S. citizenship required due to government program requirementsMust have or be able to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret ClearanceProven ability to support engineering projects through the full lifecycle—from requirements definition to verification and deliveryStrong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindsetSolid technical foundation and demonstrated engineering judgmentSelf-motivated with attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindsetEffective in customer interaction, communication, and basic stakeholder coordinationExperience4-7 years of experience in project engineering, systems engineering, or related technical disciplineBackground in aerospace or defense industry, preferably supporting DoD or MDA programsFamiliarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) and basic project scheduling tools (IMP/IMS)Exposure to Control Account Management or similar cost/schedule accountability rolesProficient in applying systems engineering methodologies and processes within the DoD acquisition framework (e.g. DoD product development lifecycle, DoD 5000)Prior experience working with cross-functional engineering teams and interacting with government or prime contractors is a plusEducationRequired: Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical, electrical engineering, or related STEM field from an accredited college/universityPreferred: Master's degree in systems engineering or a related discipline is desirable and may substitute for 1 year of experience from an accredited college/universitySkillsEffective written and verbal communication skills for working across disciplines and supporting stakeholder engagementAbility to support technical risk identification and tracking under guidanceFamiliar with Microsoft Office tools including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and ProjectOrganized and able to contribute to documentation, configuration control, and schedule managementOthersMust be able to travel up to 10% for program and customer supportMust be comfortable working in secure or classified environments, as requiredAble to work in a structured, fast-paced engineering environmentCapable of supporting multiple projects and shifting prioritiesDedicated to quality, accountability, and mission-focused teamwork in national defense applicationsVoyager offers a comprehensive, total compensation package, which includes competitive salary, a discretionary annual bonus plan, paid time off (PTO), a comprehensive health benefit package, retirement savings, wellness program, and various other benefits.To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.Voyager is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
