This is an excellent opportunity to join a sharp, growth-minded team in a setting where strong financial leadership directly shapes business outcomes.Role SummaryThe Financial Controller will oversee financial operations for a multi-site manufacturing business that produces industrial wood products. This highly visible role supports both existing locations and an upcoming acquisition, providing leadership in plant accounting, cost control, inventory management, and operational performance. The Controller will play an essential part in establishing standard costing, improving financial processes, strengthening controls, and supporting integration work for the newly acquired site. The position is ideal for professionals who enjoy hands-on plant engagement and direct partnership with operations leadership.Key ResponsibilitiesLead month-end close activities, including journal entries, financial analysis, and performance reporting.Develop financial forecasts and budgets for the full business unit P&L including sales, cost of manufacturing, and SG&A.Analyze results to ensure accuracy, maintain accrual accounting, and identify improvement opportunities.Build and refine standard costs while enhancing inventory control policies, procedures, and compliance.Support customer pricing, profitability reviews, and cost-to-serve evaluations.Analyze absorption, spending variances, and operational drivers across plants.Participate in cycle counts and annual physical inventory audits at both plant locations.Partner with operations leadership to drive cost savings, efficiency, and process improvements.Support M&A integration activities, including implementing standard costing at the new Pennsylvania site.Assist with designing and establishing accrual-based accounting and transitioning from existing systems.Key RequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Accounting.5 or more years of manufacturing accounting experience, ideally within industrial manufacturing.Background as a plant controller, assistant controller, cost accountant, or senior accountant supporting manufacturing.Strong standard costing experience with inventory costing, valuation, and control.Comfort working in plant environments including wearing safety gear and being present on the production floor.Ability to travel up to 50 Percent between locations.Experience with full P&L budgeting and forecasting preferred.Strong general ledger experience within manufacturing.Highly proficient in Excel including pivot tables, VLOOKUP and data manipulation.Strong communication skills and proven ability to partner across finance, operations, and production teams.Detail-oriented mindset, strong initiative, and ability to manage competing priorities.Preferred BackgroundsPublic accounting experience auditing manufacturing and inventoryManufacturing cost accountants or assistant controllersCPA or CMA certificationExperience with Microsoft Dynamics 365PPV analysis and deep standard costing experienceOperational excellence or transformation experienceCall to ActionIf you are a hands-on manufacturing finance leader seeking a high-impact role supporting multi-site operations in a growing, private-equity-backed environment, apply today through The Intersect Group with your resume and best contact information.
