The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.Position TypeFull-Time/RegularGeneral DescriptionThe Student Success Specialist is responsible for monitoring students’ academic progress in BU’s online at scale programs, providing guidance on academic interests and goals, and helping students access and navigate the resources needed to successfully complete their degree programs. In addition, the Student Success Specialist plans and executes events and programs that foster community and engagement throughout the program.Essential FunctionsAdvising – 50%Provide comprehensive academic advising to a portfolio of high-volume online students, guiding them in planning their path to degree completion, conducting outreach to support semester-to-semester re-enrollment, monitoring academic progress and recommending solutions to academic or administrative challenges, and maintaining current knowledge of program requirements, policies, and student services. Given the online and global nature of these programs, the position also requires a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.Community Building & Support Programming – 20%Plan and execute virtual events and engagement opportunities, develop and maintain student resources, and collaborate with BU colleges and partners to enhance the student experienceReporting & Data Analysis – 10%Prepare reports on student progress and retention and partner with data analysts to identify trends and strengthen student support strategiesCross College Coordination – 20%Collaborate with colleagues across program home colleges to ensure student needs and program-specific requirements are effectively supported, align student success processes and communications across multiple colleges to promote consistency and clarity for students, serve as a liaison between CDS, BUV, and partner colleges to coordinate policies, timelines, and student support strategies, identify and resolve cross-college operational challenges related to the student experience, and ensure compliance with varying college and university policies while maintaining a seamless student experienceRequired SkillsBachelor's degree and 3-5 years with prior student advising experienceWe are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, natural or protective hairstyle, religion, sex, age, national origin, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, military service, pregnancy or pregnancy-related condition, or because of marital, parental, or veteran status.
