Shipyard Repair Electrician (Industrial)Position Title: Industrial Electrician Shipyard Repair Location: Shipyard Facility Reports To: Electrical Supervisor / Repair Superintendent Employment Type: Full-Time, HourlyPosition SummaryThe Shipyard Repair Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems on marine vessels and within shipyard facilities. This position supports vessel repair, retrofit, and overhaul projects by ensuring all electrical systems operate safely and efficiently in an industrial maritime environment.Key ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot and repair shipboard electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, motors, and control systemsInstall and terminate cables, conduits, panels, and switchgearRead and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagramsTest electrical systems using meters and diagnostic toolsPerform preventive maintenance on vessel and facility electrical equipmentRepair and replace breakers, transformers, relays, and motor controlsAssist with generator connections and shore power systemsEnsure all work complies with marine, NEC, and company safety standardsWork in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditionsCoordinate with supervisors and other trades to complete repair projects on scheduleQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required3+ years of industrial or marine electrical experienceStrong understanding of AC/DC systems and industrial electrical componentsAbility to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematicsExperience with motor controls and troubleshootingFamiliarity with lockout/tagout proceduresAbility to pass electrical test and/or skills assessmentAbility to pass a drug screening (required)Preferred QualificationsMarine or shipyard repair experienceExperience with generators and propulsion support systemsOSHA training certificationJourneyman Electrician license (if applicable)Physical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbsAbility to climb ladders and work at heightsAbility to work in confined spacesAbility to stand, kneel, and bend for extended periodsWork EnvironmentActive shipyard and marine repair environmentExposure to noise, heat, electrical hazards, and industrial equipmentRequired use of PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.
