We are currently looking for a Security Architect SME in the United States. We are seeking a highly skilled Security Architect SME to lead the design and assessment of secure enterprise architectures across cloud and on-premise environments. In this role, you will develop security guidance, reference architectures, and standards to support large-scale government systems. You will collaborate with technical and operational teams to implement Zero Trust architectures, enforce least privilege access, and align system designs with federal cybersecurity mandates such as NIST SP 800-53. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical knowledge with hands-on experience in security architecture assessment, system hardening, and risk management. This position offers the opportunity to shape the security posture of critical federal systems while leveraging cutting-edge cloud technologies. Accountabilities Develop, align, and maintain security architecture standards, reference diagrams, and guidance for cloud and on-premise systems Design and assess enterprise security architectures, ensuring compliance with NIST and other federal security standards Lead Zero Trust initiatives, enforcing least privilege access controls and automating security mechanisms Document security boundaries, categorize systems, and define technical and organizational security requirements Evaluate security postures, identify gaps, and provide actionable recommendations to enhance protection Create high-quality technical deliverables, including reports, white papers, reference architectures, and briefings for technical and non-technical audiences Collaborate with stakeholders to translate functional requirements into secure system designs and provide guidance on risk management and compliance Support acquisition and procurement efforts by defining security requirements, estimating costs, and evaluating proposed capabilities Requirements 7+ years designing security architectures referencing NIST controls, agency policies, and government-wide security mandates 2+ years of experience implementing Zero Trust architectures in cloud and on-premise environments Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure security services and integration of COTS tools Proven experience assessing security architectures, documenting findings, and delivering presentations Deep knowledge of NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5 and related federal cybersecurity standards Ability to define system security boundaries, categorize systems, and manage security throughout the system lifecycle Experience translating functional needs into technical security requirements and supporting enterprise risk management Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience creating documentation, diagrams, and executive presentations U.S. Citizenship and ability to successfully pass a federal background investigation Preferred Certifications CISSP, CCSP, CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP, SSCP CompTIA Security+, CASP, Cloud Essentials, Cloud+ EC-Council CNDA, CEH GIAC Security Expert (GSE), GMON Benefits Salary range: $152,000 - $190,100 (based on experience and qualifications) Remote work options with flexibility and trust-based oversight 99% coverage of Medical, Dental, and Vision for full-time employees; 25% contribution for dependents 100% paid short-term disability and life insurance 100% paid professional certifications 401(k) matching up to 4% Paid time off, federal holidays, and 40 hours dedicated to innovation projects Wellness and fitness programs Online education and training portal Public transit and parking reimbursement; FSA programs for medical, dependent care, transit, and parking Employee referral bonuses Jobgether is a Talent Matching Platform that partners with companies worldwide to efficiently connect top talent with the right opportunities through AI-driven job matching.
