We enjoy spirited debate, crazy ideas, and shipping code.About The RoleWe’re looking for an exceptional motion designer to help evolve Cursor’s motion identity as we scale toward a universal platform for building software. As we grow, we’re building a brand studio focused on setting a high bar for creative excellence in a fast-moving company where brand and design play a meaningful role. This is a foundational role, with the opportunity to define Cursor’s motion language and establish systems that scale across marketing, product, and brand as the company grows.What You’ll DoEvolve Cursor’s motion identity and create scalable systems across product, marketing, and communityOwn motion work end-to-end — from narrative, storyboards and prototyping through final execution across product launches, campaigns, digital, film, content, and eventsDesign for multiple audiences — from experienced developers to designers exploring code for the first timeDevelop and optimize motion workflows, including the integration of new tools to improve efficiency and scalabilityCollaborate with product designers to ensure motion consistency across the user experienceCollaborate with external motion partners and provide clear creative feedbackShip fast, iterate constantly. Let the brand evolve as the product and company growYou may be a fit ifYou have a portfolio demonstrating strong motion craft, typography, and strategic thinking across formats — from digital campaigns to motion systems and eventsYou’ve built or evolved motion identities for technical products, developer-focused companies, or culturally defining brandsYou have experience creating engaging product launches and UI animation for software productsYou bring strong attention to pacing, composition, typography, and soundYou have strong art direction skills, with the ability to set a clear creative bar and guide external creative partnersYou can articulate design decisions and rally teams around a creative visionYou’re comfortable working in fast-paced, high-growth environments with ambiguity and complexityYou’re ambitious, opinionated, and comfortable taking ownership to push work forward[Nice to have] Experience working at both fast-paced startups and agencies[Nice to have] Background in 3D or illustrationOur mission is to automate coding.
