Quality Assurance Analyst

DescriptionThe State of Connecticut Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance Authority (the “Authority" ), has an anticipated opening for an experienced Software Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst. This role is responsible for designing, executing, and documenting complex test plans to ensure the delivery of high-quality software applications on the basis of their functionality, accessibility, useability, and performance. In this position, supervision is received. The successful candidate will report to the Quality Assurance IT Manager.Job Highlights:Contract40 hours per weekMonday-FridayAbout the Authority: The Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance Authority is a quasi-governmental agency formed by statute and signed into law by Governor Ned Lamont in 2019. Its mission is to help Connecticut’s workforce navigate health challenges and life changes with greater financial security. Through a trust funded by employees, the Authority makes benefits payments to eligible employees when either the employee or their family member takes a leave from work to care for themselves or a family member.Examples of Duties:Gain a full understanding of the capabilities of the CT Paid Leave platformDesign and maintain a robust library of test cases for all platform functionalityTest across a variety of platforms, browsers and devices to align with stakeholder expectations, technical requirements and user storiesRegularly execute a variety of functional and non-functional tests, including smoke, regression, performance/load, accessibility and API/integration testingUtilize assistive technology, such as NVDA, Axe or JAWS, to perform accessibility testing.Leverage automated testing tools to enhance test coverage and efficiencyIdentify, document and track bugs found using Jira. This will require root cause analysis and suggesting solutions, as well as validating fixesAssist in defining acceptance criteria for work items within the teamCollaborate with product owners, developers and business stakeholders to understand requirements being tested and proactively provide suggestions that would improve the system and user experienceSupport users and/or stakeholders participating in User Acceptance TestingProvide live or recorded demonstrations as needed for various users, stakeholders or partnersAssist in training new team membersParticipate in Agile ceremonies, providing feedback from a QA perspective and advocating for both system quality and user experience throughout the development lifecycleRegularly identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency through test automation by collaborating with the Quality Assurance IT Manager, Software Quality Assurance Automation Engineer and DevOps EngineerProactively support all efforts to make the user experience consistent, accessible and intuitiveUtilize interpersonal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate, build trust and offer constructive feedback in a collegial work environmentEngage in a remote work environment, including regular participation in on-camera video calls during team meetings or partner interactionsMinimum Qualifications - General ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience6+ years’ experience with in information technology (IT) operations, programming or systems/software development3+ years’ experience with QA testingPreferred Qualifications:Experience with testing, including smoke testing, accessibility testing, regression testing and performance testingExperience in developing product knowledge and translating business and technical requirements into testing needsExperience with the technical capabilities of cloud-based platforms, such as Salesforce and MulesoftExperience with automated testing toolsExperience with Agile methodology, including tools such as Jira, Confluence, DevOps and Xray Test ManagementOther Key Skills:Interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with teams to deliver excellent results and maintain a collegial work environment.Keen attention to detail.Strong analytical skills.Verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to share authority and responsibility in high stakes, complex and fast-moving work environment.Project and time management skills, including a high level of organization, attention to detail, and follow-through, while balancing and prioritizing multiple activities and responsibilities.Relationship-building skills and ability to inspire collaboration, including success in working in teams, projects, and people towards action through persuasion.Ability to be professionally engaged, present, and on-camera using virtual face-to-face technologies (MS Teams, Zoom, WebEx, chat, etc.)Demonstrated experience engaging in creative problem solving and taking initiative, while utilizing a solutions-oriented approach and exhibiting flexibility and good judgement in a complex organizational ecosystem.
