SQL Server Database Architect

SQL Server Database ArchitectClient: GeisingerLocation: 100% Remote (EST Hours)Duration: 4-6 months (could go longer if they have interest in future project work but the initial need is to set up the entire system/network/storage for the SQL Server database/system).This is an Architect Level, and the SQL Server DBA will be setting up the environment; including the system, setting up the alerts, configuring the dashboards and be in charge of network/storage connectors. This is not a Senior DBA who monitors existing database and systems; but someone who can come into an organization and build the systems/network/storage systems that the SQL Databases will sit on. Someone who will create and configure the dashboards for monitoring; not simply a DBA monitoring said systems. This individual would have strong OS understanding and able to set up the environment from scratch.Required Skills: SQL Server Database Architect (Not a straight DBA but not a "Data Architect" – Database Architect is what we need)Basic Qualification:10+ years of SQL Server Database AdministratorExpertise on SQL Compression and Dashboard creation/configuration.Strong Experience with SQL Controllers such as Pvscsi and nvme-f.Self-motivated for excellenceProven SQL development history for Database Administration needsAble to develop scripts for custom alerts and or PowerShell scripting for automationKnows how to generate reports for monitoring index/statistic maintenance including for clustered columnstore indexesSolid foundational knowledge to architect new databases for best performanceGiven a database size, able to determine Windows OS/storage layout requirements – e.g. 1 mount for all database files or creating separate drives for each database file, etc.Able to use performance monitoring to fine tune sql server settingsUp-to-date on best practices for database securityExperience and know-how for monitoring and effectively performance tuning queriesAble to effectively use DMVs to troubleshoot queries and suggest options for achieving goalsAble to document repeatable steps for co-workers to follow to help them learn to perform same dutiesWilling to learn 3rd party vendor application as it relates to database supportWilling to participate in 24x7 on call rotation supportAdditional Skills: Background Check: YesNotes: Can be extended past initial duration - the initial project is high level and they could do some senior DBA work after this work is over if they want.
