Role Description The Senior Network Engineer will work part time in a remote capacity, supporting and optimizing the network infrastructure that powers Java Notes’ online presence and learning resources. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and maintaining secure, reliable networks to support web content delivery, configuring and administering routers, switches, firewalls, and related systems, and monitoring network performance to ensure high availability and low latency. The role involves diagnosing and resolving complex network issues, implementing security best practices, and collaborating with content and platform teams to plan for scalability and future growth. The Senior Network Engineer will also document network architecture and procedures, recommend improvements, and help ensure that learners have a stable, secure environment for accessing Java content.QualificationsCandidates should possess strong skills in Network Engineering and Network Design for building and optimizing scalable, secure infrastructures.Candidates should possess solid Network Administration skills for configuring, managing, and monitoring network devices and services.Candidates should possess advanced Troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving complex network performance and connectivity issues.Candidates should possess expertise in Network Security for implementing secure configurations, access controls, and threat mitigation practices.Experience with cloud-based networking (e.g., AWS, Azure, or similar), VPNs, and content delivery optimization is beneficial.Familiarity with scripting or automation tools (such as Python, Bash, or Ansible) and network monitoring solutions (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, or similar) is an advantage.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Strong communication skills, ability to work independently in a remote setting, and commitment to maintaining reliable, learner-focused systems.
