Maintenance Technician I or II

OverviewPosition TypeFull TimeEducation LevelHigh SchoolDescriptionResponsible for performing corrective and preventative maintenance activities, troubleshooting, and repairs of various Danforth Center, electrical systems, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, controls/building automation, building support systems and lab equipment to maintain the uninterrupted operation of the Center’s facilities. This position will report to the Manager of Building Services.This is a full-time position (40 hrs/week) with an hourly rate of $24.00-$29.00 per hour (commensurate with experience). Full-time staff are also eligible for our excellent benefits package including health/vision/dental, paid vacation and holidays, 403(b) retirement plan with employer match, education assistance, and other benefits. Responsibilities:Perform basic and routine facilities maintenance, construction, and repair tasks to building systems including, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, drywall, carpentry and doors.Perform basic maintenance and repair to various lab related equipment including small and medium autoclaves, glass washers, centrifuges and othersCoordinate the activities of contractors engaged in facility repair or construction.Utilize a computer maintenance management system (CMMS) to timely document and track completed work tasks, record labor hours and parts. Assist utility staff with furniture moves and set ups. Attend regular safety training and work order meetingsRequired to work on a rotating on-call basis for after-hours responseOther duties as assigned. Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:Diverse experience in Mechanical, Refrigeration, Electrical and Plumbing is preferred. Specialized experience will be considered. Basic computer skills for using work order system (CMMS), sending email, and other documentation.Proven ability to follow direction and perform tasks in an efficient and quality mannerStrong work ethic and reliability is essentialGood communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to communicate with a diverse group of end users.Must possess the ability to work with minimal supervision while managing daily task load, and accurately track and report on job statusProven ability to work safely and efficiently, managing multiple small projectsWell-organized, with ability to schedule tasks and timelines appropriatelyWillingness to work occasional weekend day(s) or after-hours when needed for on-call workLive the Danforth Center values: Collaboration, Diversity & Inclusion, Innovation, Integrity & Respect, Environmental Sustainability, and Stewardship QualificationsQualifications:High school diploma or GED is required.Commercial/industrial maintenance experience is preferred.Strong troubleshooting skills Physical Demands:Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs comfortablyMust be able to work in high heat and humidityComfortable with safely working at heights up to 25 ftRequires standing, walking, bending, stooping and reaching for extended periods of time-- 80% or more of the workday is standing on feetAbility to transport carts, cumbersome supplies, etc. up rampsMay be required to perform tasks at varying heights (e.g. climb ladders, etc.)Ability to utilize computer keyboard (typing) Submission:Resume detailing work history and relevant skillsContact information for 2 professional references
