Controls Engineer

Job DescriptionThis is a full-time on-site role located in Sterling Heights, MI. As a Controls Engineer at APS, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems for automated production systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify system requirements, develop control strategies, and integrate hardware and software components. Your role will involve troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, conducting system testing and validation, and providing technical support to clients.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related fieldStrong knowledge of control system principles, PLC programming, and HMI designExperience with industrial automation systems and roboticsProficiency in programming languages such as ladder logic, structured text, or function block diagramFamiliarity with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practicesAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawingsExcellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively in a team-oriented environmentExperience with automotive manufacturing processes is a plusKnowledge of CAD software and simulation tools is a plusExperience with Siemens and Rockwell controls a plus.Preferred QualificationsGCCS1 and GCCH2 CertificationsExperience working with GM, Ford and Stellantis controls standards.Experienced in using Eplan and Autocad ElectricalExperience with understanding of VFD front and back endsExperience with communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Profinet, Modbus RTU, and othersExperience writing programs with Function Blocks and/or Add On InstructionsExperience with safety controllers and circuitsExperience with servo drives and motors5 years previous experience in plant maintenance with a strong background in controls and related softwareThe salary advertised is the bracket available for this position.
