Application Systems Java Developer
DataStaff, Inc. is in need of an Application Systems Java Developer for a long-term contract opportunity with one of our direct clients located in Raleigh, NC*This position is hybrid.Job Description:Our client is seeking a versatile Application Systems Java Developer to develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications, backend services, automation tools, and legacy system integrations. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, full-stack development capabilities, and an ability to work across modern and legacy technologies.Key Responsibilities:Develop and maintain backend applications and services using Java, Python, and PerlBuild RESTful APIs, microservices, and integration points with internal and external systemsModernize and refactor existing Perl-based or legacy applications into modern architecturesCreate automation scripts, system tools, and scheduled jobs to support IT operationsWrite clean, efficient, and scalable code following best practices and coding standardsDesign and implement SQL queries, stored procedures, and data-processing workflowsParticipate in architecture discussions, technical design sessions, and sprint planningDebug and resolve complex issues across multiple languages and platformsDeploy applications to cloud or on-premise environments (Azure, AWS, GCP, Linux/Unix)Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver technical solutionsMaintain documentation for systems, integrations, and processesKnowledge and Experience: Proficiency in Java (Spring Boot, Maven)Experience with Git/Subversion, Linux/Unix environments, and version-controlled developmentStrong problem-solving and debugging skills across languages and environmentsExperience with version control (Git/Subversion) and CI/CD pipelinesRequired Skills:7 Years - Proficiency in Java, Python7 Years - Solid understanding of SOAP/REST APIs, backend architecture, and microservices7 Years - Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, Ingres)5 Years - Senior-level experience writing optimized SQL queries and analyzing existing SQL queries for performance improvementsDesired Skills:5 Years - Familiarity with legacy system migration projects3 Years - Hands-on experience with Perl for scripting, system utilities, or legacy app maintenance3 Years - Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)3 Years - Experience with ETL, data pipelines, or batch processingThis position is available as a corp-to-corp or W2 position with a competitive benefits package.
