Compensation Analyst

Compensation AnalystThis role supports the organization's total rewards strategy by conducting data-driven analyses, designing competitive compensation structures, and administering sales and variable pay programs across our funeral home and cemetery operations in North America. This role ensures market competitiveness, internal equity, regulatory compliance, and alignment of compensation programs with organizational goals in a service-oriented, multi-location environment.
Essential functions include:
Conducts benchmarking analyses using industry salary surveys, market data, and internal metrics to maintain competitive and equitable pay structures.
Maintains and updates job classifications, salary grades, and compensation plans for a diverse workforce including operations, sales, corporate support and executives.
Develops and maintains compensation forecasting tools, and financial models to support financial forecasting and workforce planning.
Designs, analyzes, and administers sales incentive plans for preneed and at-need sales counselors, for both inside and outside sales roles.
Monitors performance of variable compensation programs, ensuring accurate payouts, goal attainment tracking, and alignment with revenue and service objectives.
Partners with Sales Leadership to optimize incentive structures that drive both compliance and targeted performance.
Performs complex data analytics to provide insights on pay trends, turnover, labor costs, and compensation effectiveness.
Prepares compensation reports and presentations for HR leadership, Finance, and executive stakeholders.
Ensures compensation programs comply with applicable regulatory requirements, established compensation or incentive plan rules, and funeral/cemetery industry-specific practices.
Collaborates with HR, Finance, Sales, and Operations to support compensation structures, assess labor cost impacts, and work with the HR lead on integration-related compensation solutions for acquisitions.
Recommends enhancements to compensation processes, tools, and governance to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Determine when external compensation-design expertise is needed and lead the full RFP, vendor selection, and project management process.

Required education, experience, certifications, and licensure include:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.
35 years of compensation analysis experience.
Demonstrable experience with financial analysis and modeling required.
A solid understanding of finance and generally accepted accounting principles required.
Preferred education, experience, certifications, and licensure include:
Experience in multi-location, service, or regulated industries preferred.
Additional eligibility qualifications include:
Strong Excel financial modeling and PowerPoint skills and a high degree of proficiency with Outlook and Word.
Very strong attention to detail, keen analytical mindset, strong organizational skills, and ability to synthesize and clearly communicate complicated analyses.
Ability to quickly pivot between projects and tasks while managing required deadlines in an environment that requires a high sense of urgency.
Capable of working independently, but also a reliable team player.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (oral and written), and ability to interact across all levels of the organization.
Highly motivated self-starter with a desire to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization.
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Physical demands and work environment include:
The duties associated with this position are generally performed in an indoor office setting.
Equipment used to perform the essential function of this position includes, but is not limited to computer, fax, copier, merchant terminal, multi-line phone system, personal or company owned vehicle.
Employees in this role are regularly required to climb, sit, stand, bend, kneel, and frequently lift to 25 pounds.
This position may also require reaching, pushing, and pulling.
This position may also be exposed to chemicals and/or bloodborne pathogens. Exposure risk is considered: Low
Overtime is sometimes necessary or required.

This position requires 10 percent out of area and overnight travel
