Senior Mechanical Engineer

Swope Design Solutions is a rapidly growing mechanical engineering and product design firm located in the San Francisco Bay Area that specializes in consumer products, medical devices, and robotics. From napkin sketches to high-volume production, we have expertise in all areas of product development. We utilize our in-house machine shop capabilities to create an ideal problem solving environment for our team. This enables our engineers to efficiently converge on solutions to our client’s biggest problems.  We are looking for an exceptional Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. You will be responsible for working with our clients to step their products from early stage prototypes up to full scale production. The skills below provide a strong base to succeed in our world.RESPONSIBILITIESDesign & Engineering (Expert to Master Level): Use SolidWorks Software to design functional parts and assembliesMaster Modeling, surfacing, and sheet metal techniquesSolidWorks Workgroup PDMComplex assemblies, BOM management, and 2D drawings per ASME Y14.5.Be proficient with manufacturing and prototyping tools such as manual mills, lathes, and 3D printersUse HSMWorks to safely create parts on CNC millsUse best engineering practice and judgment to develop system-level solutions for our clientsCollaborate with our team and the client to generate conceptual solutionsProve out concepts with mathematical simulation or quick physical prototypesRefine designs into comprehensive CAD structuresBuild up and manage system level BoMsCreate and update product requirementsWrite and execute test protocols and reports. Analyze data.Integrate electronics, firmware, software, industrial design, and user experience requirements Supervise the build processIdentify key component suppliers. Manage all orders and vendor relationships.Help assemble and deliver finished systems, including training and hands on fabricationDesign and build assembly and test fixturesTake the design to productionProduce production level drawings and process instructions, including inspectionImplement system part numbers, design revisions, and engineering controlsAid in researching and providing necessary commercial or regulatory certificationsDesign for manufacturing and assembly. Tolerance analysis.Failure mode and effect analysis/Verification and validationManage manufacturing partners.
