Volunteer Lead Teacher
OverviewIn addition to LifeWise teacher responsibilities, lead teachers support the program director in hiring, training and managing the program's LifeWise teachers.Qualifications and ExperienceA minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience in a school or church settingA mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the LifeWise Academy Statement of FaithActive participation in and commitment to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the "What We Believe" section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of FaithJob DescriptionPlan CurriculumDetermine which LifeWise lessons will be taught during each school yearKeep all teachers and classes consistent in with regards to expectations, procedures, processes, curriculum and the LifeWise missionWork with the program director to provide teachers with curriculum and supplemental materialsTrain and Observe TeachersOrganize a teacher training day at the start of each school yearLead regular teacher meetings to maintain consistency in procedures, curriculum and expectations within the programAssist the program director in observing teachersAttend as a team liaison or invite teachers to virtual and in-person teacher training opportunities provided by the LifeWise Support CenterAttend and encourage teacher participation at the annual LifeWise SummitCreate and Maintain RecordsCreate classroom schedules and coordinate any changes with staffKeep and maintain accurate class rosters, including health concerns and special needs of students as noted on parent permission slipsAssist the director in developing and maintaining program policies and proceduresCommunicateRepresent LifeWise teachers at Leadership Board meetingsRegularly visit program classes to provide support and encouragementBuild relationships with volunteers and keep them apprised of schedule changesSubmit regular updates, stories and photos to the program directorOther DutiesAssist the program director in other responsibilities as neededLifeWise Academy's hiring practices and EEO Statement are fully in compliance with both federal and state law.
