Instructors are supported with resources to develop engaging curricula and inspire learners of all ages.Role Description The Ceramics Instructor is a full-time or part-time position, on-site role based in Encinitas, CA. This role involves planning and teaching ceramics classes, including demonstrations of wheel throwing, hand-building, glazing, and surface techniques for beginners and more advanced learners. The instructor will guide participants through safe and effective use of studio equipment, including kilns, wheels, and tools, while maintaining a clean, organized classroom environment. Responsibilities include developing lesson plans, monitoring student progress, providing constructive feedback, and helping schedule kiln firings and studio usage. The Ceramics Instructor will also support studio events, collaborate with other staff on programming, and contribute to a positive, inclusive community experience.QualificationsCeramic and Pottery skills, with strong practical experience in studio-based work.Proficiency in Wheel Throwing and Hand-Building techniques.Hands-on experience with Kilns, including basic operation, firing schedules, and safety practices.Teaching skills, including lesson planning, classroom management, and the ability to instruct mixed skill levels.Strong commitment to safety, studio etiquette, and equipment care.Ability to communicate clearly, encourage learners, and provide supportive feedback.Experience working in a ceramics studio or arts education setting is preferred.Relevant education or training in fine arts, ceramics, or art education is beneficial.
