Press Brake Operator
Duties and Responsibilities
· Use a press brake to bend, shape, cut, and manipulate sheet metal and metal plates
· Operates a press brake to manufacture tools, equipment, and other components from sheet metal or metal plates
· Prepare, set up and adjust the press brake as required by product plans and production schedules
· Ensure that there are sufficient raw materials available
· Measures and align materials to be used
· Inspect products, evaluating finished pieces for compliance with quality standards and specifications
· Perform routine maintenance on the press brake
· Maintain a clean working environment per LEAN directives
· Participate in all staff meetings as required
· Perform other duties as assigned by management
Required Skills/Abilities
Ability to interpret blueprints
Working knowledge of sheet metal
Ability to identify steel thicknesses
Working knowledge of bending deductions
Ability to safely and effectively operate or learn to operate the Press Brake
Ability to follow instructions
Forklift training recommended
Attention to detail. Strong time management and organizational skills.
Exemplary customer service skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. (Orders are built to contain customization based on customer requests.)
Self-motivated and can work independently with minimal supervision.
Regular and reliable attendance
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations with
limited standardization
Education
High school diploma or GED.
General knowledge of steel fabrication
Computer/Technology skills are required
Basic math skills are required
At least one year of experience in metal fabrication or related work preferred
Willingness to learn new skills and programs
Work Environment
Employee will frequently be exposed to work near moving machinery and mechanical parts.
Requires frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying materials for up to 10 hours per day.
May be required to occasionally lift up to 50lbs without restrictions.
Physically able to operate the press brake.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
