Construction Manager- Equipment Location: Onsite – Lebanon, OH Industry: GMP ManufacturingOverviewThe Construction System Owner (CSO) – Process Equipment & Skids provides field‑based technical oversight and construction coordination for vendor equipment packages and modular skid installations during the construction phase of a large, GMP‑regulated pharmaceutical project.Acting as the process equipment discipline technical authority in the field, this role ensures vendor equipment and skids are installed in accordance with approved design and regulatory requirements, are fully integrated with supporting utilities and systems, and are prepared for Mechanical Completion and commissioning.The CSO supports construction progress and system readiness while means and methods, sequencing, and craft labor management remain the responsibility of the Main Contractor, and formal inspection and acceptance remain with the Construction Quality organization.Key AccountabilitiesServe as the process equipment and vendor package technical point of contact to the Project Manager and project leadership during construction.Confirm equipment installation aligns with:Approved IFC design documentationVendor installation manuals and requirementsTechnical specifications and validated submittalsApplicable GMP requirements, statutes, and guidelinesIdentify, document, and escalate installation constraints or deviations that may impact:Construction progressEquipment operability and system integrationMechanical Completion readinessCommissioning and startup activitiesCoordinate technical interfaces between vendor equipment packages and construction disciplines including piping, electrical, instrumentation, controls, and structural systems.Participate in field coordination meetings, provide input to reporting, and support issue resolution through project governance structures.Interface with Client SMEs as required to resolve technical or system integration issues.ResponsibilitiesProvide field‑based technical oversight of vendor equipment and modular skid installations, including positioning, anchoring, leveling, and integration.Confirm installation readiness in accordance with:Vendor documentationApproved IFC drawingsProject technical specificationsSupport reassembly and installation of modular skid systems delivered in multiple sections.Identify installation risks, access challenges, and cross‑trade interface conflicts; escalate concerns appropriately.Coordinate with vendor field representatives during installation and startup readiness activities.Support alignment between vendor requirements and field construction execution.Maintain field observation records documenting installation progress, risks, and integration concerns.Support Mechanical Completion by verifying installation completeness and utility connections.Participate in system walkdowns, readiness reviews, and punch list development to support commissioning preparation.Codes, Standards & Preferred KnowledgeASME B31.3, ASME BPEGMP construction and documentation practicesGeneral electrical and equipment controls familiarityNFPA 70 (NEC)IEC standards, ATEX (preferred)Instrumentation and controls best practicesQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.10+ years of field experience supporting installation of process equipment, vendor packages, and modular skids on large pharmaceutical or GMP‑regulated capital projects.Strong understanding of:Modular skid systems and vendor equipment integrationMulti‑discipline construction coordination (piping, electrical, instrumentation, controls, structural)Experience supporting Mechanical Completion, commissioning readiness, and system turnover.Strong knowledge of GMP construction practices and regulatory documentation requirements.Proven ability to identify and communicate installation risks and technical deviations in complex construction environments.Strong communication and stakeholder‑coordination skills in a field‑based setting.Important Role ClarificationsThe CSO does not direct contractor means and methods, sequencing, or craft labor.Construction quality inspection and formal acceptance are performed by the Construction Quality organization.This role focuses on technical oversight, coordination, and system readiness, not construction management.
