GROCERY/DEPT LEADER

Direct and supervise all functions, duties and activities for the department. Support the day-to-day functions of the Grocery operations. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.RESPONSIBILITIESAdhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintainedReport all safety risks or issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud; notify management of customer or employee accidentsTrain department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO)Plan, organize and supervise the inventory processSchedule daily, weekly and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signsMaintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note any discrepancies in inventoryAssist store management in preparing the store/department budget, profit and loss reviews, and take appropriate action on all financial reportsMonitor and control expenses for the departmentStay current with present, future, seasonal and special adsImplement the period promotional plan for the departmentPrepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisorCreate and execute sales promotions in partnership with store managementUnderstand the store's layout and be able to locate productsGain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about productsAdhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelinesTrain and develop associates on performance of their job and participate in the performance appraisal processDevelop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operationCollaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company/store goalsCommunicate company, department, and job specific information to associatesSupervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reportsAbility to work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environmentAbility to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative mannerAbility to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business informationAbility to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issuesProvide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adultsMust be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodationQUALIFICATIONS MINIMUMHigh School Diploma or GEDAny management experienceDESIRED1 year of grocery retail experience
