Trim Engineer IIHyundai's North America Quality Center (NAQC) is looking for an Engineer II for the Trim TeamThe Team:NAQC is the quality arm for Hyundai Motor Group's North American vehicle models. NAQC seeks to further Hyundai's goal of becoming the leading automotive manufacturer in North America by delivering uncompromising quality and exceeding consumer expectations.The Position:The Trim Engineer II would focus on the continuous development and enhancement of trim systems for Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia vehicles by performing field and on-site investigations and root cause analysis regarding trim-related issuesWhat You Will Do:Investigate and support the testing of interior and exterior trim/seat/body-related quality issues in Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia vehicles by responding to requests from Hyundai Motor Group, sales affiliates, vehicle assembly plants, and in cases of sudden increases in warranty claimsUtilize subjective and objective data from field and on-site investigations to analyze and diagnose root causes of trim-related quality issuesPropose and validate solutions pertaining to trim-related quality issuesBenchmark competitive vehicle designs, diagnostic procedures, and technical service bulletins (TSBs) to research differences and enhance NAQC's systems and materialsIdentify market trends via customer feedback, external indices (e.g., J.D. Power, Consumer Reports), customer forums, and automotive syndicated studiesResearch, procure, and maintain new technologies, tools, and methods for data acquisition and analysis purposesManage schedules and coordinate with outsourced companies to ensure all deliverables are met according to contract requirementsMaintain project schedules by assisting vendors with any arising questions and/or issuesTravel up to 30% of the time, both domestically and internationallyWhat You Will Bring to the Role:Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, automotive, or a related field of engineering3+ years of experience working with trim systemsQA/QC/QI experienceKnowledge of interior and exterior trim/seat/and body-related fundamentals (i.e., NVH, lamp, switch, seat, latch, motor, and door)Familiarity with vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition tools (e.g., LMS, thermal loggers, CAN tools, various gauges, etc.), service manuals, shop equipment, and trim-related test equipmentRoot cause analysis skillsExperience conducting field and on-site investigationsFamiliarity with performing testing, validation, research, and benchmarking activities/tasks concerning trim systemsExcellent time management, self-management, and organization skillsStrong written, oral, and interpersonal skillsAbility to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersValid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving recordPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in mechanical, electrical, automotive, or a related field of engineeringKnowledge of chassis fundamentals (i.e., NVH, brake systems, fuel systems, HVAC systems, steering systems, and suspension systems)What Hyundai Can Offer You:Zero-dollar Employee Premiums on Medical, Dental, and Vision for You and Your Family100% Employer-paid Disability and Life InsuranceGenerous Paid Time Off, Including Vacation, Sick, and Abundant HolidaysCompetitive SalariesRange of Position: $80,000 ~ $93,000/YearA Global Environment that Fosters DiversityRetirement Savings and Planning BenefitsAccess to Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending AccountsFlexible Work HoursOther Details:* Candidates applying for positions with Hyundai KIA must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
