Boiler Plant Operator & Air Conditioning Operator – VA Medical Center (Nashville, TN) Location: TVHS VA Medical Center, Nashville, TN Schedule: Full-Time | 40 hrs/week + emergency coverage Contract Type: Federal Contract (Service Contract Act – SCA) Start: March 2026 Contract Duration: Base Year + 4 Option Years We are hiring experienced Boiler Plant Operators (BPO) and Air Conditioning Operators (ACO) to support 24/7 critical utility operations at the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (VA Medical Center) in Nashville. This is a long-term federal opportunity supporting Veteran healthcare operations. Open Positions 3 FTE – Boiler Plant Operators (BPO) 3 FTE – Air Conditioning Operators (ACO) Work Location 1310 24th Avenue South, Nashville, TN 37212 (Onsite – VA Medical Center) General Responsibilities Operate, monitor, and maintain boiler plant and HVAC systems Ensure continuous, safe operation of hospital utility systems Respond to emergency utility calls within 24 hours Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and documentation Support VA facility management and safety standards Boiler Plant Operator (BPO) – Requirements Minimum 5 years experience operating high-pressure steam boilers (up to 2,500 HP) Experience with Cleaver-Brooks boilers and related systems Required certifications/training include: OSHA 10 Boiler Operator Certification (360 Training) Confined Space Entry VHA Safe Steaming Course Factory training (AutoFlame, Aerco, Direct Logic, C-More) Ability to: Start up/shut down boilers Test safety devices Maintain logs and PM schedules Operate emergency generators Air Conditioning Operator (ACO) – Requirements Minimum 12 months commercial HVAC/building operations experience Experience operating large-scale systems including: Chillers, cooling towers, air handlers Pumps, motors, exhaust fans Building Automation Systems (Siemens Desigo – preferred) Ability to independently operate multi-zone hospital HVAC systems after training Training Requirements BPO: 90 days onsite training (VA Directive 1810) ACO: 45 days onsite training Federal holidays and emergency shifts required as scheduled Eligibility Requirements U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder Updated resume with all employment gaps explained Clear OIG & SAM background checks Ability to work federal holidays and emergency shifts Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour Work Location: In person
