Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) Wallops Island requires support for management, engineering, operation, and technical expertise for activation, operations, maintenance and engineering of equipment, systems, and computer programs in support of all Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) missions and projects performed at SCSC. SCSC provides live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric, maritime environment to develop, test, evaluate, and conduct fleet operations and training for the warfighter.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesThe Senior IT Specialist/Linux will have adequate experience and training to effectively perform the duties listed belowInstall, configure, upgrade and maintain Linux/RHEL servers and workstations to the latest approved versionsMaintain compliance with DoD Security Technical Configuration Guides (STIGs) utilizing various tools.Investigate trouble calls, isolate faults, identify and implement corrective actions to restore systems.Create and administer user accounts, security groups, or other user settings.Configure and manage patching solutions, backup support and log collectionProvide technical support to onsite users.Write scripts to automate processes.Oversee daily operations and performance to support & provide guidance to team members.Education, Knowledge Or Certifications RequiredBachelor’s degree within the last five years in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering or similar degree as listed in the DoD 8140 listings from an ABET accredited or NCAE designated institution.OROne of the following certificationsCompTIA Cloud+CompTIA Security+GIAC Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP)Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)ORWAU DCWF WRC 451 System Administrator - Intermediate PlaylistQualificationsActive DoD Secret security clearance highly desired however candidates who are eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance will be considered. If the selected candidate does not hold an active clearance, he/she will receive a contingent offer. A start date will be established once an interim Secret clearance is granted.
