The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the building and grounds remain safe, functional, and well‑maintained. This role performs a wide range of tasks including lawn care, snow removal, general repairs, and routine upkeep. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, reliable, and comfortable working independently to keep the facility in excellent condition.Key Responsibilities:Perform routine and daily maintenance inspections of buildings and systemsMonitoring incoming maintenance requests, prioritizing and responding promptly.Pickups and deliveries as needed at off-campus locations.Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and protocols.Perform lawn care duties such as mowing, trimming, edging, and debris removalMaintain landscaping beds, shrubs, and outdoor common areasConduct seasonal tasks including leaf cleanup and irrigation checksClear snow from sidewalks, entrances, parking areas, and walkwaysApply ice‑melt products to ensure safe access for staff and visitorsOperate snow blowers, shovels, and other winter‑maintenance equipmentPerform general carpentry tasks including framing, trim work, and minor structural repairsComplete drywall installation, patching, sanding, and finishingPainting interior and exterior surfaces as neededConduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needsRepair or replace fixtures, hardware, and basic building componentsAssist with minor plumbing, electrical, and mechanical tasks (non‑licensed work)Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and toolsRespond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional mannerCoordinate with vendors or contractors when specialized work is requiredFollow safety procedures and maintain compliance with facility standardsOther duties as assignedPersonal Attributes:Mechanical aptitudeAnalytical ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues effectively.High Values: integrity (do the right thing), encourager, courteous, respectful and trustworthyTeam player: work effectively across levels and departments, cover responsibilities of others, and work holidays/weekends as neededA self-starter with the desire to follow work instructions and work with urgencyOrganized and detail orientedAbility to remain calm in stressful and conflict situationsAbility to deal with ambiguity and limited informationCurious or inquisitive with the ability to challenge the status quoSkills and Technical Expertise:Skill in using hand and power tools for repairs and maintenance.Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various environments, and perform physical and demanding tasks.Understanding and adhering to safety protocols and procedures.Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues effectively.Required Experience:Able to read, write and speak in EnglishFrequent squatting, kneeling, stooping, and bending.Ability to work during periods of extreme weather and in other emergency situations.
