Hardware Support Engineer- Heavy Equipment Manufacturing

The Hardware Support Engineer is responsible for supporting the development and lifecycle of electronic hardware products through hands-on validation, component management, and technical troubleshooting. This role acts as a critical liaison between engineering, procurement, and production teams to ensure timely delivery of reliable, manufacturable hardware.This is an onsite position at Homewood,IL.Essential FunctionsCollaborate with design engineers to validate prototype hardware using advanced lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, logic analyzers, etc.).Independently manage and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), including revision control and component lifecycle tracking.Source and qualify electronic components, including identifying alternates for obsolete or long lead-time parts.Interface with suppliers to gather lead times, cost information, and technical specifications.Support prototype builds by preparing component kits, coordinating with assembly teams, and resolving build issues.Generate and maintain technical documentation such as test reports, validation plans, and assembly guidelines.Participate in Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and document updates to support release-readiness.Provide guidance on component selection and documentation best practices to cross-functional teams.Train and mentor junior team members or technicians as neededQualificationsAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.Minimum of 4 years of experience in electronic product development, testing, or hardware support roles.Familiarity with lab instruments, schematic/BOM tools.Strong understanding of component datasheets, specifications, and electrical characteristics.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departmentsFamiliarity with Engineering drawings would be a benefitUnderstanding of environmental testing and approvals would be a benefitWork environment and Physical demandThis is primarily an office classification and employees work in an office with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. May work offsite in various customers' environments; travel may be required. The position occasionally bends, stoops, reaches, pushes and pulls drawers to retrieve and file information and lifts and carries reports, records, and other materials that typically weigh less than 30 pounds.Compensation/Benefits:We foster a collaborative team environment that values innovation and encourages creative solutions to drive positive organizational impact. The final compensation offer may vary based on factors such as experience, education, skills, and location.
