SummaryThis position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. current - and unrestricted license to independently practice as a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor - which includes diagnosis and treatmentNOTE: It is VHA policy that a LPMHC who does not yet have a license that allows independent practice must be supervised by a licensed independent practitioner of the same discipline who is a VA staff member and who has access to the electronic health recordMay qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria)Grade Determinations: GS-11 (Full Performance Level) Experience - assessment - and treatment-to Veterans - their families - and the interdisciplinary team within the Charlie Dowd VA Clinic coverage areaDuties include crisis response and management of a broad range of mental health disorders (e.g. - SMI - PTSD - depression - anxiety - substance use)The incumbent applies knowledge of mental health diagnoses and basic medical terminology to support patient careMajor duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: Works with patients and families who are experiencing basic emotional - medical - and social problems utilizing individual - group - and family counseling skillsWork with more complex problems are done under close supervision with guidance from the social work supervisor to assess the psychosocial functioning and needs of patients and their family members - and to formulate and implement a treatment plan - identifying the patient's problems - strengths - weaknesses - coping skills - and assistance neededBasic knowledge of psychosocial treatment modalities and - under supervision - implement treatment modalities in working with individuals - families - and groups to achieve treatment goalsThis requires judgment and skill in utilizing supportive - problem solving - or crisis intervention techniquesAdvanced knowledge of and mastery of theories and modalities used in the specialized treatment of complex physical and mental illnessIncorporate complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment of veteran patients -
