Master Machinist/Programmer
Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Master Machinist to manage our machine shop operations and lead a team of skilled machinists. The ideal candidate will have advanced expertise in CNC machining, proficiency in Mastercam programming, and proven leadership skills to oversee shop activities, ensure quality production, and maintain efficient workflows. This role combines hands-on machining, programming, and managerial responsibilities to deliver precision components that meet customer specifications.\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nMachining & Programming:\nSet up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC mills, lathes, and other precision machining equipment.\nCreate, edit, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam for complex parts and multi-axis machining.\nInterpret technical drawings, GD&T, and specifications to ensure parts meet quality standards.\nPerform precision measurements using tools such as micrometers, calipers, and CMMs.\nShop Management:\nOversee daily operations of the machine shop, including scheduling, workflow planning, and resource allocation.\nSupervise, train, and mentor machinists and apprentices to maintain high skill levels and safety standards.\nManage inventory of tools, materials, and supplies to support uninterrupted production.\nCoordinate with engineering, production, and quality teams to meet project deadlines and specifications.\nQuality & Process Improvement:\nImplement and enforce quality control processes to ensure parts meet tolerances and customer requirements.\nIdentify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements.\nMaintain and calibrate machines to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.\nAdministrative Duties:\nPrepare job quotes, track production costs, and report on shop performance metrics.\nEnsure compliance with OSHA and other workplace safety standards.\nMaintain accurate documentation of programs, setups, and production records.\n\nQualifications:\n\nExperience:\n7+ years as a machinist with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.\nExtensive experience programming in Mastercam for CNC mills and lathes (3-5 axis preferred).\nProven track record in producing high-precision components in a machine shop environment.\nSkills:\nAdvanced knowledge of CNC machining processes, tool selection, and cutting parameters.\nProficiency in Mastercam for CAD/CAM programming, including toolpath generation and simulation.\nStrong understanding of blueprints, GD&T, and metrology.\nLeadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.\nExcellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.\n
