Job Description
Elgin Power Solutions a leader in the manufacture of Electrical Power Systems & Equipment since 1977, located in the Beckley, West Virginia area is currently hiring an electrical engineer to design industrial, renewable, and utility electrical power equipment. To do well in this role candidates must have experience as an Electrical Engineer or Electrical Design Engineer in the manufacture of similar or related equipment.
Elgin Power Solutions has an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer.
Responsibilities and Duties
Designing, or improving the design of Elgin Power Solutions Equipment such as Switchgear, Capacitor Banks, Harmonic Filter Banks, Skid/Mobile Mounted Substations. Typical Equipment Voltage ranges are 4.16kV to 34.5kV.
Performing a wide range of engineering tasks by operating computer-assisted design or engineering software and equipment. We currently use the latest version of Auto-Cad.
Conferring with customers, engineers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering products or projects.
Ensuring that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements by preparing electrical systems specifications or technical drawings.
Establishing construction, manufacturing, or installation standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed calculations.
Ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support, or testing activities.
Writing reports and compiling data regarding existing and potential electrical engineering projects and studies.
Preparing specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials that go into our products.
Checking other engineering team members work such as electrical schematic diagrams and electrical assembly layouts.
Working closely with electrical technicians, test bay personnel and other engineering team members.
Mechanical engineering knowledge is a plus.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology degree from an accredited school.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams)
Knowledge of applicable codes related to electronic engineering (ANSI, NEC, UL & IEEE).
Proficient in the calculations of typical Electrical Engineering Formulas.
Electrical Engineer with 2+ years experience involved in the design and engineering of similar equipment.

Experience:
