LocationNew YorkBusiness AreaProductRef #10050334Description & RequirementsBloomberg is seeking a Product Manager to lead search indexing, retrieval & ranking for the Bloomberg Terminal. This role is responsible for the core systems that generate search results across semantic search, natural language search, and AI-powered retrieval experiences.You will define the strategy and roadmap for how Bloomberg content is indexed, retrieved, and ranked across our unstructured data ecosystem. This includes working closely with engineering and machine learning teams to improve search quality, while ensuring that investments are grounded in user needs and measurable outcomes.This role places strong emphasis on evaluation, stakeholder engagement, and product clarity translating complex search capabilities into meaningful improvements for end users. You will partner closely with evaluation, product, and domain teams to define success metrics, gather requirements, and ensure that improvements to retrieval and ranking systems translate into better search experiences.You will also play a key role in enabling AI-driven use cases, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), cross-document question answering, and LLM-powered research workflows.We Will Trust You ToDefine and communicate a clear product strategy for search indexing, retrieval, and rankingPartner with stakeholders across research, news, and product teams to understand workflows, gather requirements, and prioritize investmentsWork closely with evaluation partners to define success metrics, interpret results, and guide decision-makingTranslate user needs and business goals into clear product requirements and roadmapsDrive improvements in search quality, including relevance, coverage, and timeliness of resultsEnsure systems support both traditional search experiences and emerging AI-driven workflowsBalance tradeoffs across user impact, performance, and scalability in collaboration with engineering teamsCommunicate progress, insights, and outcomes clearly to stakeholders and leadershipAlign cross-functional teams around shared goals while maintaining clear ownership of product directionYou Will Need To Have6+ years of product management experience, ideally in search, data products, or ML-powered applicationsStrong product sense with the ability to translate complex systems into user-facing valueExperience defining product requirements and working closely with engineering and data science teamsComfort working with metrics, experimentation, and evaluation frameworksProven ability to manage stakeholders and drive alignment across multiple teamsExcellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate strategy and outcomesWe’d Love To SeeExperience with search, ranking, or information retrieval systemsFamiliarity with evaluation methodologies for search or AI systemsExposure to LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or question-answering use casesExperience working with unstructured data (e.g., documents, news, research content)Background in financial data, enterprise tools, or research workflowsSalary Range = 140,000 - 295,000 USD Annual + Benefits + BonusThe referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting.
