Basic Computer SkillsAbility to communicate verbally and in writingRecovery Specialist Duties & ResponsibilitiesCompliance with Federal Regulations regarding 42 CFR Part 2; Confidentiality of Substance Use Disorder and HIPAA Regulations Reviews and adheres to posted shift assignment at the start of shiftObservation and accounting of all patients at all times to ensure safety, entering findings of patient status into the Electronic Health Records (EHR) at a minimum of hourlyMonitor the milieu including bathrooms and group room for safe, clean and therapeutic environment at hourly and/or as neededUnderstanding of emergency procedures and codes and remain calm in a crisisMaintain therapeutic boundaries by setting limits and enforcing rules in a respectful mannerPerform room inspections per policy and bag searches when directedEnsure the unit is neat and clean, performing end of shift duties to maintain a therapeutic environment for patients and staff, and restock supplies as neededAttends Supervision with assigned supervisor twice monthly and/or as needed based on status or concerns and attend mandatory meetingsPerform any other duties as assigned by Recovery Specialist Supervisor, Nursing Staff, Nurse Manager, Program/Site Director, DON, or COOInpatient Specific ResponsibilitiesSubstance Use Disorder Training (including Nicotine Addiction)Perform under the delegation authority of the RN/LPN working on the shift assignedComplete admission consents and releases within the EHRComplete patient observation checks monitoring per practitioner/nurse order timely and accurately on the iPad (paper when iPad not available)Print daily census in preparation for next shiftAttends and participates in change of shift report with nursing staff at the beginning and end of each shiftObservation and reporting to the nurse signs of withdrawal and/or medical and behavioral changesMonitor supplies necessary for showering and personal care to maintain individual hygiene/safetyUtilize Walkie-Talkies ad campus responders and perform radio checks hourly and when escorting patient off the unitProcess new patient admission including the EHR process, an inventory and documentation of clothing, electronics and valuablesBe familiar with and adhere to the rights of patients as defined by DPH Patient Rights Standards (105 CMR 164.079)-BSAS licensed programsMonitor milieu as directed by the nurse during Medication Administration (ATS)Complete medication Monitoring Training (within 90 days of hire or as appropriate) and perform Medication Monitoring during Observed Self-Administration (CSS) Escorting patients to meal, groups, medical appointments within the facility and outdoor breakReports off to nurse when the unit for any reasonFacilitate assigned groups and enter notes into EHREngage in verbal de-escalation and patient centered behavioral interventions in treatmentFacilitation of activity-based group activities and milieu engagement per daily schedule as assignedRecovery Specialist QualificationsA minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent GED, preferredOne year of experience in substance use / behavioral health field is preferred but not required
