Production Engineer Step into a Production Engineer role at Crane Currency in Dalton, Massachusetts, and make a real impact by improving the processes and technology behind world-class currency manufacturing. As a Production Engineer, you will provide hands-on engineering and technical support across both Watermark operations and Paper Machine operations, playing a critical role in ensuring precision, reliability, and continuous improvement in currency production. This role partners closely with operations, maintenance, and technical teams to improve process performance, product quality, and operational efficiency. You will lead and support process improvements, troubleshoot complex manufacturing challenges, and help implement new technologies that strengthen safety, quality, and consistency. Your work directly supports Crane Currency's mission of delivering trusted, high-quality products to customers worldwide. Provide engineering and technical support to improve the watermark application process and overall product quality Develop a working knowledge of papermaking processes and their interaction with watermark creation to support operational effectiveness Serve as a subject matter expert for setup, operation, conversion, and maintenance of watermarking equipment Prepare, present, and conduct process improvement trials, validating results through structured qualification processes Support day-to-day paper machine operations by monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating corrective actions Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, R&D, and Process Control teams on trials and improvement initiatives Assist with long-term process improvement initiatives with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and continuous improvement Provide technical direction and support to production crews, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence Knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role: Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Chemical. Experience in paper manufacturing, preferably supporting a paper machine or related production process Strong understanding of machine operations, pulp and paper processes, and industrial safety standards Demonstrated problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills in a manufacturing environment Leadership experience working with production teams or cross-functional partners U.S. Citizenship with the ability to demonstrate and maintain suitability for employment in a position of Public Trust Preferred: BS Degree in Pulp and Paper Science 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing process. The salary range for this role is $98,000 - $118,000 annually. Pay is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, and location.
