Position Overview
To strengthen our construction workforce development pathway and achieve our strategic goal of becoming a Certified Pre-Apprenticeship Program, the Construction Coordinator will lead and implement a high-quality, comprehensive, and accessible training program that aligns with industry standards and opens doors to long-term careers through registered apprenticeships. Working collaboratively with our broader coordination team—including digital literacy, workforce readiness, GED/HSED, and employment support staff—the coordinator will lead participant recruitment, support curriculum development, cultivate strategic partnerships with employers, unions, and community organizations, and provide hands-on assistance to participants navigating apprenticeship systems, employment platforms, and digital tools. This role serves as a critical link between students, instructors, and industry partners, ensuring holistic support and program delivery that positions the Latino Academy at the forefront of workforce development in Dane County.
Key Responsibilities
A. Case Management & Student Support
Recruit, pre-screen, and enroll participants into construction training and pre-apprenticeship programs.
Conduct placement testing, orientation sessions, and academic/career planning.
Provide ongoing case management, including weekly check-ins, progress tracking, and digital record-keeping.
Assist students with resumes, job applications, mock interviews, and employment readiness tools (LinkedIn, cover letters).
Conduct and maintain Personal Education Plans (PEP) for each participant.
Connect students with employment or apprenticeship opportunities before, during, and after program completion.
Conduct alumni follow-up at 3, 6, and 12 months post-completion.
Foster student accountability, confidence, and effective navigation of available resources.
B. Job Readiness Workshops
Plan, coordinate, and facilitate engaging job readiness and entrepreneurship workshops for adult learners.
Collaborate with instructors to ensure curriculum delivery is both industry-informed and culturally relevant.
Implement and oversee the logistics of all pre-apprenticeship courses and workshops.
Align program outcomes with state certification requirements and industry best practices.
Coordinate student enrollment into apprenticeships or employment opportunities.
Lead the execution of workforce training logistics, including class materials, orientation packets, and scheduling.
Support the development and implementation of construction-specific curriculum aligned with apprenticeship standards.
Monitor class attendance and participation; gather and report on student feedback and outcomes.
Provide weekly updates to the program supervisor and assist with program adjustments as needed.
C. Employer Engagement
Cultivate and maintain relationships with construction employers, labor unions, and trade organizations.
Coordinate site visits, guest speakers, and hands-on learning opportunities.
Collaborate with employers to identify hiring opportunities and establish referral pipelines.
Coordinate job fairs, hiring events, and employer-led information sessions
D. Community Outreach and Marketing
Build and sustain partnerships with community organizations, training providers, and educational institutions.
Coordinate referrals and wraparound services in collaboration with external partners.
Conduct outreach calls and follow-ups in both English and Spanish, community engagement, and relationship-building with partners, unions, and employers.
Design and implement marketing and recruitment strategies (flyers, social media, community events).
Represent the Latino Academy at job fairs, community events, and apprenticeship-related initiatives.
Maintain professional communication with key partners, including the Workforce Development Board, Madison College, and trade unions.
E. Data Management and Reporting
Manage participant data systems to document enrollment, attendance, credentials earned, job placements, and apprenticeship outcomes.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to recruitment, retention, completion, and placement to ensure program goals are met.
Generate regular internal dashboards and summary reports to support program oversight, employer engagement, and leadership decision-making.
Coordinate data collection and verification processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with grant and funder requirements.
F. Compliance and Funding Support
Ensure program activities comply with grant requirements, policies, and performance metrics.
Contribute to grant proposals, reports, and program documentation as needed.
Support budget tracking and documentation related to employment services.
G. Professional Development
Stay current on workforce development best practices, construction trends, and labor market shifts.
Participate in staff development and training related to workforce development and adult education.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or an Associate’s degree (AA) preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience in employment services, case management, or job development roles, preferably in community-based or nonprofit settings.
Strong understanding of local labor market trends, job search strategies, and employer engagement best practices.
Skills & Abilities:
Experience facilitating workshops or group trainings, especially related to construction.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English (written and verbal) required.
Ability to collect, analyze, and report program data, including job placement outcomes.
Strong time management skills and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with Dane County community resources and referral networks preferred.
Ability to adapt to evolving program needs and responsibilities.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in spreadsheets and data management tools, Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides), and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) programs and other data-tracking software.
Experience using AI platforms for efficiency and innovation in program management is a plus.
Ability to work with platforms to create posters, digital forms, and tools for recruitment and advertising (e.g., Canva, Jotform, social media platforms)
A demonstrated willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, staying open to innovation and continuous improvement to meet evolving program needs.
Working Conditions
The position involves both office-based work and occasional travel to training sites, industry events, and partnership meetings.
Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed for program operations or special events.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines while ensuring program goals are met.

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
