Software Engineer (Healthcare Interoperability) Location: Fully Remote (U.S.) Pay Rate: $57.00/hr Duration: 6-Month Contract (Potential Extension/Conversion) Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM PSTPosition Summary We are seeking a Software Engineer with strong healthcare interoperability and integration experience to support enterprise clinical data exchange initiatives across payer-provider ecosystems. This role will focus on designing, developing, and supporting scalable healthcare integrations utilizing FHIR, HL7, CCD/C-CDA, APIs, and enterprise integration platforms. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Managed Care Organization (MCO) workflows, healthcare data exchange standards, and modern API-based architectures.This position will play a critical role in delivering secure, compliant, and high-performing interoperability solutions supporting multiple healthcare business lines.Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and support end-to-end healthcare interoperability solutions utilizing FHIR, HL7, APIs, and CCD/C-CDA standards.Lead healthcare data mapping, transformation, and integration development efforts across payer and provider systems.Build and maintain real-time and batch clinical data exchange pipelines.Design scalable API-based integration architectures utilizing MuleSoft or similar enterprise integration platforms.Support data engineering initiatives involving SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Databricks, and healthcare data ecosystems.Monitor production integrations, troubleshoot issues, and provide SLA-driven operational support.Ensure compliance with healthcare interoperability standards, security requirements, and enterprise architecture guidelines.Collaborate with business stakeholders, vendors, architects, and development teams to deliver integration solutions.Promote best practices related to scalability, stability, performance, security, and reusability.Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve interoperability and healthcare data exchange capabilities.Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.3–5 years of Application Development experience.Strong understanding of Managed Care Organization (MCO) operations and payer workflows.Hands-on experience with Healthcare Interoperability standards:FHIRHL7CCD/C-CDAExperience designing and implementing API-driven integration solutions.Experience with MuleSoft or similar enterprise integration platforms.Strong experience with healthcare data mapping and transformation.Experience with SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases.Experience supporting production environments and troubleshooting integrations.Experience working within healthcare payer environments.Preferred Qualifications 5–7 years of Healthcare Industry experience.Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Business.Experience with Databricks and modern data engineering platforms.Epic Payer Platform certification or hands-on payer integration experience.Microsoft Technology certifications.ITIL certification.Experience supporting large-scale healthcare interoperability initiatives.
