Position Summary
The Assembly Team Lead is responsible for supervising, guiding, and supporting the assembly team to ensure products are assembled safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards. This role combines leadership, hands-on involvement in assembly processes, and collaboration with other departments to meet production targets and continuous improvement goals.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
Lead, motivate, and develop the assembly team on the shop floor.
Assign daily tasks and balance workflow in support of production schedules.
Train team members on assembly procedures, tools, and safety requirements.
Monitor performance, provide feedback, and assist in resolving work-related issues.
Production & Quality
Ensure assembly work meets specifications and quality standards.
Support team in interpreting work instructions and drawings.
Perform regular quality checks and escalate defects or inconsistencies.
Work with Production Management to meet daily targets and adjust resources as needed.
Safety & Compliance
Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring all team members follow safety protocols and use PPE appropriately.
Proactively identify hazards and report concerns to management.
Participate in safety meetings and support continuous safety improvements.
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to streamline assembly processes and improve efficiency.
Provide feedback and suggestions to management for workflow enhancements.
Encourage team involvement in continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaboration
Coordinate with production planning, fabrication, and other departments to avoid bottlenecks.
Communicate updates, issues, and priorities clearly with team and supervisors.
Skills & Qualifications
Required
Prior experience in a manufacturing environment with mechanical assembly exposure (tools, parts, sub-assemblies).
Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a production setting.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to read work instructions, basic drawings, and follow SOPs.
Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
Preferred
Experience with lean manufacturing principles.
Familiarity with inventory management
Physical Requirements
Comfortable standing for long periods and helping with hands-on tasks as needed.
Ability to lift and maneuver parts and equipment within safe weight limits (e.g., up to ~50–75 lbs).
