Pay: $18.00–$25.00/hour based on experience
Night Shift Differential: Additional 10% on top of base pay
Apache Workforce is currently hiring experienced Painter/Blasters in Houston, TX. We are seeking candidates with industrial painting, blasting, and coating experience who are ready to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Position Overview
The Painter/Blaster is responsible for operating industrial spray painting and media blasting equipment to apply protective coatings and finishes to piping systems, steel structures, fabricated components, and production equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform surface preparation and protective coating applications on piping, steel structures, and fabricated components
Operate and maintain blasting, spraying, and coating equipment
Mix primers, paints, and coatings to proper consistency and viscosity
Select correct nozzles, pressures, temperatures, and cure times for applications
Clean, prepare, mask, and protect surfaces before coating
Apply primers, paints, epoxies, urethanes, zincs, and specialty coatings evenly and accurately
Inspect finished products for runs, pinholes, bare spots, and coating quality
Perform touch-up and refinishing work as needed
Maintain spray booths, filters, PPE, and painting equipment
Ensure proper movement of finished products to inspection or shipping areas
Monitor paint and blasting supply inventory levels
Follow OSHA safety procedures and company policies
Complete required paperwork and production documentation
Perform additional duties assigned by management
Qualifications & Skills
Knowledge of industrial painting and coating applications
Experience with abrasive blasting and surface preparation
Familiarity with HVLP, airless, and conventional spray systems
Experience with 2-part coating and paint mixing processes
Ability to read and interpret paint specifications and technical data
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Understanding of quality control standards for industrial coatings
Ability to work safely using scaffolding, rigging, and containment systems
Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
Good communication and teamwork skills
Education
High School Diploma or GED required
2–5 years of industrial painting experience preferred
Minimum 2–5 years of industrial painting and blasting experience
Ability to read and interpret documents written in English
Experience with
Abrasive blasting
Hand and power tool surface preparation
Industrial paint and specialty coating applications
Epoxies, urethanes, and zinc coatings
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work performed in a non-temperature-controlled manufacturing/shop environment
Regular exposure to dust, paint fumes, noise, oils, and industrial conditions
Frequent standing, bending, crouching, lifting, and repetitive motions required
Ability to lift and move materials up to 70 lbs
Ability to stand up to 11 hours per shift and work overtime as needed
Steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and required PPE must be worn at all times
Ability to work safely in industrial environments and elevated work areas
