Line CookPart-TimeThe Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant is seeking professional, highly motivated Cooks to work in a high-volume commercial kitchen environment. Position requires flexibility with scheduling.Compensation:$17.00-$22.00 /hour depending upon skills and experienceExpected Hours:up to 30 hours/weekEssential Duties:Proper food handling, storage, stocking, & rotationExecuting food products as intended based on the Chef's guidelines and specificationsKeeps an inventory of their station's productsCommunication with service staff and management concerning new menu items, food preparation methods, availability, and substitutes of food itemsMaintain sanitary conditions and work habitsOperate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives and cooking appliancesWorks independently and with minimal supervisionPerform other kitchen duties as assignedCompletes work in a timely and orderly fashionQualifications:Prior experience in a scratch kitchenAbility to lift up to 50lbsAbility to read English and be able to reasonably communicate verbally in EnglishEffective communication skillsAbility to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environmentMust be able to stand for long periodsMust be able to go up and down stairs in our multi-level kitchenAbility to work weekends, all holidays, mornings, and nightsWork Environment:This position is based in a commercial kitchen environment, often hot, humid, and fast-paced. Exposure to cooking equipment, cleaning chemicals, and sharp instruments is routine. Teamwork is essential in this high-energy setting.Physical Requirements:Must be able to stand for long periods, bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds. Must be able to go up and down stairs in our multi-level kitchen. Tasks involve repetitive motion and use of hands to handle food, tools, or controls.
