Description
The CAT Compact General Manager (GM) is responsible for setting and achieving short and long‑term strategic plans in alignment with the company's Vision, Mission, and Values. The GM evaluates, allocates and directs all human, physical, and financial resources within CAT Compact Location.
The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices daily:

Key Responsibilities
Model, promote, reinforce, and reward the use of CAT Compact’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure that they are effectively and consistently put into action
Drive customer‑centric strategies that strengthen value creation, deepen relationships, and support long‑term business growth
Develop, promote, implement, and monitor a long‑term collaborative strategic plan for the CAT Compact Location’s to grow and satisfy the needs of all stakeholder groups
Create and manage CAT Compact’s core operational processes in Sales, Rental, Parts, and Services delivery
Hire, train, develop, evaluate, and manage the human resources of CAT Compact to consistently exceed productivity targets, demonstrate teamwork, and deliver Legendary Customer Service
Evaluate, allocate and control the capital resources (e.g., facilities, product inventories) of CAT Compact to optimize Return On Net assets
Responsible for P&L for the CAT Compact location(s)
Analyze and control expenditures to meet short‑ and long‑term company objectives in conformance with budgetary requirements
Work safely always and adhere to all applicable safety policies; complying with all company policies, procedures, and standards
Perform other duties as required
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Strong technical aptitude and application knowledge of technology equipment and their operation
Working knowledge of construction estimating and modeling techniques and processes
Demonstrated knowledge of dealership operations including Sales, Rental, Parts, and Services delivery
Advanced computer skills to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Sales Force, and Microsoft Dynamics
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources
Strong strategic planning and tactical execution skills, including critical thinking skills to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
Demonstrated passion for personal and team development leading to successful outcomes for internal and external customers
Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to present formally before both small and large groups
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Strong data analytical skills
Excellent self‑management, and organizational skills
Ability to work with all levels of personnel within the organization and customer operations
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction site plans, professional journals, technical procedures, technical manuals, software specifications hardware principals of operations, and systems software operations
Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem‑solving and decision‑making
Knowledge and experience with economic and accounting principles and practices, including invoicing, credit management, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data
Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division quickly and accurately
Ability to work independently and effectively within a team in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment with emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and achievement of goals
Strong listening and questioning skills to effectively understand verbal and non‑verbal communication; Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences as well as the unsaid messages of others
Benefits
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
An understanding of contractor and dealership operations required
Minimum of eight years of work‑related skill, knowledge, or experience required
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and development; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Travel:
Travel may be expected for this position
Valid driver’s license

Work Environment:
Working conditions are primarily indoors in a professional office environment
Also works outdoors with possible exposure to temperature variations, damp/wet surfaces, hazardous materials, flammable liquids, high noise areas, dust, and unfavorable fumes and vapors
Frequently works at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions
