Cosmetology Instructor (2026 -27 SY)

General Statement of Duties A 12-month assignment providing division-wide support for the Cosmetology and Master Barbering programs at ACE Tech Centers.Provides summer instructional and programmatic support to division Cosmetology and Master Barbering programs. This expanded role includes summer responsibilities focused on increasing student licensure readiness and supporting completion of required clock hours for Cosmetology, and coordinating state board pre-registration for Cosmetology and Master Barbering. The support is provided to benefit all (3) ACE Center location's Cosmetology and Master Barbering programsEssential DutiesThe physical demands of this assignment include the ability to sit and stand for extended periods and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.Professional Duties and Expectations:Plan, implement, and oversee a Strategic Make-Up Hours Program designed to support students in completing required cosmetology clock hours for state licensureCollaborate with ACE Center administrators, Cosmetology and Master Barbering teachers to communicate summer opportunities for all eligible studentsProvide structured summer learning opportunities for Cosmetology I students from all three ACE Center programs to earn and "bank" make-up hours toward state board eligibilitySupport recent graduates who require additional clock hours to meet eligibility requirements for the Cosmetology state board examinationCoordinate and facilitate three (3) designated weeks in July dedicated to cosmetology make-up hoursEstablish schedules, expectations, attendance procedures, and instructional activities for summer sessionsMaintain clear records of student attendance and clocked hours earned during summer programmingCoordinate and conduct early and in-person state board pre-registration sessions for Cosmetology and Master Barbering students. Select dates TBD for June following Summer Career Camps release and in July, with locations at ACE Hermitage and ACE Highland SpringsCoordinate with CTE Curriculum Specialist to update Cosmetology pacing guide, as appropriatePlans daily instructional activities for secondary students, demonstrating knowledge of subject matter and using state Standards of Learning and the curriculum of the districtDevelops formative and summative tests, using multiple tools to assess student learning on an ongoing basis, and alters instruction to meet group and individual needsMaintains order within the classroom and school with proactive classroom management and a well-organized learning environmentMaintains records of student performance and attendance, and communicates this effectively with students and their parentsSelects, requisitions, and uses a variety of instructional materials to stimulate learning and meet the needs of all studentsIncorporates and models appropriate use of technology to support instruction and student learningPerforms other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsEligible candidates must hold or be eligible for a VDOE Technical Professional teaching License in Cosmetology and Barbery.Individuals presently licensed by the Virginia Board for Barbers and Cosmetology (DPOR) and with at least 2 years of continuous professional experience in cosmetology within the past 5 years are encouraged to apply.Additional InformationThis is a 260 Day or 12 Month Assignment with a July 1, 2026 contractual start date.Minimum annual starting salary based on 2025-26 SY Rates*:$72,060.37 Bachelors,$75,519.45 Masters,*The annual salary stated in this posting is based on the 2025-2026 adopted financial plan. The annual salary for the coming school year will be determined once the 2026-2027 school year financial plan is approved and adopted in the Spring of 2026.
