Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY
Banning Engineering is seeking an Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer to support the design and delivery of private development projects, including commercial, residential, and mixed-use site development across Indiana. Working alongside project managers, this role contributes to engineering design, construction documents, permitting, and client coordination.
This is a growth-oriented position for an early-to-mid-career engineer pursuing professional licensure who wants increasing responsibility within an employee-owned firm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform site design tasks including grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utility layout.
Prepare construction plans, specifications, and supporting calculations.
Assist with permitting and agency submittals at the local, county, and state level.
Coordinate with clients, contractors, and review agencies under the direction of the project manager.
Support project scheduling, budgeting, and documentation.
Review and coordinate work prepared by CAD technicians and designers.
Conduct site visits and assist with construction-phase services as needed.
Contribute to proposal preparation and scope development.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
Engineer Intern (EI) / Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, with a commitment to pursuing PE licensure.
Two to five years of experience in civil site or land development design.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Understanding of stormwater management and site development design principles.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with private development projects in the Indiana market.
Familiarity with local permitting and agency review processes.
Progress toward Indiana PE licensure.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $82,000.00 per year
