Position: Junior Custodian (20 hour/12 month), 2 positionsFacilities Department/Plant Operations and Maintenance General Statement of Duties: The Junior Custodian reports to the Senior Building Custodian and is responsible for performing the following duties: cleaning and sanitary maintenance of the building; care and maintenance of the school grounds; and performing related work as required. Examples of duties include, but are not limited to the following: Sweeping, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing; making minor repairs and adjustments Cleaning and care of floors (wood, concrete, vinyl tile), walls (plaster, wood, cinder block), windows, light fixtures, toilets, wash bowls, and building furnishings and equipment Using hand tools and large cleaning equipment such as vacuums, carpet extractors, burnishes, floor washing machines, etc. Replacing light bulbs and ceiling tiles using ladders, lifts, and scaffolds Care and maintenance of school grounds, including litter pickup and removal, sweeping of walks, removal of snow and ice, raking, mowing, and watering grass where designated, requiring the use of hand and power lawn mowers, rakes, snow blowers, and sand shovelsInspecting the school building(s) to determine the necessity for maintenance work and submitting work ordersChecking deliveries of fuelDisplaying the flag of the United States according to customEliminating fire hazards and preventing accidentsThe Junior Custodian is responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness and sanitation as directed by the Senior Custodian and in accordance with school and district-wide cleaning standards. Terms of Employment:20 hours per week, 12 months per year. Must have the ability to occasionally work outside of the scheduled hours and on weekends.
