This senior role combines technical leadership, client engagement, staff development, and business growth, making it ideal for an experienced traffic engineer looking to lead a regional operation.The Traffic Engineering Lead will serve as a subject matter expert, guide project teams, and help expand traffic engineering services across public and private markets.What You'll Be DoingProvide technical leadership and oversight on a wide range of traffic engineering projectsLead preparation and review of: Traffic Impact Studies (TIA/TIS)Road Safety Assessments and Safety StudiesTraffic operational analysesCorridor and intersection studiesSignal timing and coordination plansSigning, striping, and pavement marking plansTraffic Control Plans (TCPs)Traffic simulation modelingPerform QC/QA reviews to ensure consistent, high‑quality deliverablesServe as the primary traffic engineering point of contact for clientsSupport proposal development for DOT, municipal, and private clientsLead, mentor, and grow traffic engineering staff across South CarolinaAssist with the strategic growth and positioning of traffic engineering servicesStay current on industry trends, regulatory updates, and emerging technologiesLeadership & Business FocusOperate with a strong seller-doer mentalityManage and mentor traffic engineering staffContribute to scope development, budgeting, scheduling, and staffing plansBalance technical execution with project management and client leadershipWhat They're Looking ForBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited programLicensed Professional Engineer (PE) in South Carolina or ability to obtain within 6 months8-15 years of progressive traffic/transportation engineering experience3+ years of experience developing and managing staffCertified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE)Certified Road Safety Professional (RSP)Technical & Software ExperienceTraffic analysis and simulation tools: HCS, Synchro, SIDRA, VISSIMProficiency with MicroStation and AutoCAD (or equivalent design platforms)Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly ExcelIdeal Candidate ProfileExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong understanding of project management controls, including: Scope development and proposalsBudgeting and schedulingStaff managementQuality assurance and quality controlComfortable managing projects while remaining hands‑on with design and technical productionWhy This RoleRegional leadership opportunity with autonomy and long‑term growth potentialBlend of strategy, technical delivery, people leadership, and client engagementAbility to shape and expand traffic engineering services across South Carolina
