Buckholts Independent School District Job Description: Career and Technical Education (CTE) Agriculture TeacherProvide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the field of agricultural science that develop competencies in agricultural education, leadership, and career readiness. The teacher will foster a positive learning environment, support student participation in supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs), and promote leadership through FFA.QualificationsEducation/CertificationBachelor's degree from an accredited college or universityValid Texas teaching certificate in Agricultural Science and Technology (Grades 6–12)Demonstrated knowledge of CTE programs and pathways preferredSpecial Knowledge/SkillsKnowledge of agricultural science curriculum including plant science, animal science, agribusiness, and mechanicsAbility to manage laboratory, shop, and/or land-based learning environments safelyStrong classroom management, organizational, and communication skillsAbility to supervise student projects, including livestock and agricultural enterprisesKnowledge of National FFA Organization programs and competitionsExperienceStudent teaching or approved internshipExperience in agricultural education or related field preferredMajor Responsibilities and DutiesInstructional StrategiesDevelop and implement lesson plans aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources (AFNR)Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse student needsIntegrate academic and technical skills to prepare students for postsecondary successProgram ManagementDevelop and maintain a comprehensive agricultural education program, including classroom instruction, SAE, and FFA componentsMaintain agricultural facilities such as shop areas, barns, greenhouses, and land labsEnsure compliance with all safety standards and district policiesStudent Growth and DevelopmentGuide students in developing and maintaining Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) projectsPrepare students for leadership development events (LDEs) and career development events (CDEs)Encourage student participation in agricultural competitions, exhibitions, and community eventsFFA SponsorshipServe as an advisor for the local FFA chapter affiliated with the National FFA OrganizationOrganize and supervise student participation in FFA meetings, activities, and conferencesCoordinate travel and ensure student eligibility for eventsAssessment and DataMonitor student progress and provide timely feedbackMaintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and program outcomesUtilize data to improve instruction and student performanceCommunity and Program EngagementBuild partnerships with local agricultural businesses, community members, and industry leadersPromote the agricultural program through events, social media, and outreachSupport district initiatives and maintain strong relationships with parents and stakeholdersProfessional GrowthParticipate in professional development aligned with CTE and agricultural educationStay current with industry trends and instructional practicesSupervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervise students in classroom, laboratory, shop, and field environmentsOversee student participation in off-campus activities, including livestock shows and competitionsWorking ConditionsFrequent outdoor work and exposure to varying weather conditionsAbility to lift and carry equipment or materials related to agricultural instructionOccasional travel for student competitions and professional developmentEvaluationPerformance will be evaluated in accordance with district policy and the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS).Employment DetailsPosition Type: Exempt, 10–12 month contract (based on district needs)Reports To: Campus Principal / SuperintendentSalary: Based on district salary schedule and experience
