We are located in Thousand Oaks, CA.Key Responsibilities:Financial Management & Reporting:Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Manage all aspects of the financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and financial forecasts. Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and industry-specific accounting standards. Develop and maintain financial models to forecast business performance and provide insights to executive leadership. Budgeting & Forecasting:Lead the annual budgeting process, working with department heads to ensure alignment with business goals. Provide rolling forecasts and variance analysis to adjust for changes in the advertising landscape. Develop and implement cost control measures to maintain financial health while supporting growth. Financial Controls & Compliance:Implement, maintain, and enforce strong internal financial controls to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and corporate policies. Manage the year-end audit process and coordinate with external auditors. Stay updated on financial legislation, tax regulations, and industry-specific financial practices to mitigate risk. Team Leadership:Lead, mentor, and manage a team of accounting professionals, including accountants, financial analysts, and support staff. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the finance department, focusing on process optimization and automation. Provide training and professional development opportunities to staff. Collaboration & Strategic Planning:Work closely with the CFO and executive team to provide strategic insights and financial guidance to support long-term business planning. Collaborate with other department heads, especially the marketing and creative teams, to understand business needs and align financial goals. Support the agency in pricing, cost analysis, and profitability reviews for advertising campaigns and client contracts. Risk Management:Identify potential financial risks and propose mitigation strategies. Ensure adequate insurance coverage and manage relationships with external partners (banks, insurers, auditors). Systems & Process Improvement:Oversee the finance and accounting systems, ensuring they are up-to-date, efficient, and capable of supporting business growth. Recommend and implement financial software and process improvements that drive efficiency and accuracy. Qualifications & Skills:Experience: 10-15 years of experience in finance or accounting roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or controller position. Experience in the advertising industry or a similar creative field is required. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or CPA certification preferred. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of financial reporting, and accounting systems. Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or other ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills. Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with advertising industry standards, including pricing models, media buying, and client contract structures. Leadership: Proven track record of managing teams, with the ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a finance team in a fast-paced, creative environment. Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders. Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail. Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
