Salary: begins at $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience
Scope of Work
The Urban League of Portland’s Compliance Specialist oversees and manages regulatory compliance issues within the organization. The specialist will work closely with HR management to develop, implement, and maintain programs, policies, and practices that ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. This role also involves conducting audits, training staff, and providing guidance on compliance-related matters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the company complies with all relevant labor laws and regulations, including but not limited to EEOC, FLSA, FMLA, OSHA, and ADA.
Policy Development: Assist in the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current laws and regulations.
Auditing and Monitoring: Conduct regular audits of HR practices and records to ensure ongoing compliance; identify and rectify any areas of non-compliance.
Training and Education: Develop and deliver compliance training programs for HR staff and management; provide ongoing education on new and updated regulations.
Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of compliance activities; prepare reports for HR management and regulatory bodies as required.
Investigation and Resolution: Investigate compliance issues and complaints; recommend corrective actions and oversee their implementation.
Risk Management: Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues.
Consultation and Support: Serve as a resource for employees and management on various compliance-related issues and concerns.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or a related field. Advanced degree or certification in HR compliance is a plus.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in HR compliance, employment law, or a related field.
