Setup Operator Machinist

Advanced Structural Technologies (AST) is an industry leading manufacturer of forged, flow formed and machined products for the space, defense, aerospace and automotive markets. As a fully integrated contract manufacturing business, all process steps are completed on site in AST’s 100,000 sq. ft. facility. AST is located in Oxnard California 60 miles northwest of Los Angeles and 2 miles from the Pacific Ocean and California’s Pacific Coast Highway. Position Summary: The Setup Operator Machinist is responsible for operating large CNC lathes and VTLs in order to produce aerospace grade product. Required Skills/Experience: Must be able to set up and operate CNC lathes with minimal supervision. Must be familiar with machining fundamentals, tool wear, and tool usage. Ability to make offsets and necessary modifications and adjustments to ensure parts conform to specifications and requirements. Read and understand standard and geometric tolerances on blueprints, work instructions and operation sheets. Accurately verify and document dimensions using standard measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, etc. Exercises and maintains good housekeeping and safety principles in the completion of work assignments.
