AWS Serverless Developer

Industry Experience: Must have experience in Brokerage, Clearing, or Wealth Management environments (required). Core Responsibilities: Design, develop, deploy, and maintain scalable serverless applications on AWS. Utilize AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, Kinesis, and Step Functions. Develop high-quality software using Scala, Rust, and/or Python. Design, develop, and support RESTful APIs and enterprise API integrations for financial services applications. Implement API integration solutions including request/response processing, authentication, authorization, error handling, and resiliency. Build event-driven and asynchronous applications using AWS EventBridge, SQS, SNS, Kinesis, and Lambda. Develop and support batch and file-processing solutions (scheduled processing, file ingestion/generation, S3-based processing). Handle large-volume data processing with robust error handling, reconciliation, and recovery mechanisms. Design AWS Step Functions workflows for multi-step business and technical processes. Integrate APIs, batch jobs, event-driven services, and downstream enterprise applications. Monitor and troubleshoot serverless applications using AWS CloudWatch and related tools. Conduct root cause analysis and resolve production issues across APIs, Lambda, messaging, and integrations. Ensure solutions are scalable, available, resilient, secure, and performant. Collaborate with architects, developers, business analysts, product owners, DevOps, and other teams. Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, sprint planning, and production support. Follow Agile/Scrum practices and contribute to process improvements. Required Skills & Qualifications: Minimum 5+ years of software development experience, preferably in brokerage or financial services. Minimum 5+ years of experience in AWS serverless development. Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, Kinesis, and Step Functions. 5+ years designing/developing RESTful APIs and enterprise integrations. Experience with API security, authentication, authorization, error handling, and performance optimization. 5+ years developing event-driven/asynchronous applications. 5+ years in batch and file-processing solutions (including S3, reconciliation, and restart/recovery). 3+ years programming in Python, Scala, and/or Rust. 3+ years developing AWS Step Functions workflows. Strong knowledge of distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and event-driven architecture. Experience in integrating APIs, messaging systems, batch jobs, and downstream apps. Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and root cause analysis skills (using CloudWatch/logs/monitoring). Familiarity with AWS security (IAM, encryption, secure communication). Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated AWS deployments. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation preferred). Highly preferred: Experience with brokerage, clearing, retirement, investment, or wealth-management back-office systems. 5+ years working independently, managing priorities, and delivering within timelines. 5+ years in Agile/Scrum environments with cross-functional teams. Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent work experience. Other: No travel required. Local to Charlotte, NC preferred (hybrid role).
