The Law Offices of Heywood G. Friedman is a leading California defense firm specializing in the defense of liability, employment, and workers’ compensation claims. Over the last several decades, we have developed strong long-term relationships with many of California’s largest commercial insurers, private employers, and public agencies.Our Civil Litigation Practice is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our team of experienced attorneys handling a diverse range of litigation matters, including general liability, premises liability, transportation liability, personal injury, and property damage matters.The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to develop practical litigation skills while working closely with senior attorneys on active matters.Successful candidates will gain hands-on experience assisting in all aspects of litigating civil liability claims in California state courts, including initial review of plaintiff’s complaints, drafting responsive pleadings, drafting and responding to discovery requests, evaluating discovery responses, and other pre-trial/trial activities.This position has zero required in-office days per week. Successful candidates will have the choice of working remotely (except for in-person court appearances, depositions, meetings, etc. as professionally required) or in-person at our offices throughout California.The expected pay range for this position is $85,000—$135,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors as permitted by law.Required Qualifications1. Member of the California State Bar in good standing (or CA Bar Exam passer pending admission to the Bar)2. Ability to work in a paperless environmentPreferred Qualifications1.
