Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and dependable Line Cook to join our team in a fast-paced, full-service restaurant environment. This position plays a critical role in delivering a high-quality dining experience by preparing and plating dishes to order with consistency, precision, and attention to detail. As a Line Cook, you’ll work closely with the kitchen team and front-of-house staff to ensure timely service and a smooth flow during busy shifts. This role requires strong time management, communication skills, and a passion for executing well-crafted meals in a dynamic, guest-facing environment. Duties Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes, portion sizes, and plating guidelines Operate multiple cooking stations (grill, sauté, fryer, prep) based on daily shift assignments Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure food is prepared and delivered in a timely manner Assist with prep work, restocking, and closing duties as needed Communicate effectively with the front-of-house team to accommodate special requests and ensure guest satisfaction Uphold consistency, quality, and portion control at all times Assemble, package, and label food orders correctly for delivery platforms (Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub, etc.) Maintain proper food storage, rotation (FIFO), and temperature controls Support kitchen cleaning duties: sanitizing surfaces, cleaning equipment, sweeping/mopping floors, etc. Alert Head Cook or Kitchen Manager of low inventory, equipment issues, or food quality concerns Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols consistently Work efficiently to meet ticket times and delivery deadlines without sacrificing quality Requirements High school diploma or equivalent 1–2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen or high-volume fast casual restaurant Understanding of basic kitchen operations, food prep, and cooking techniques Familiarity with food safety standards; ServSafe certification preferred Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a non-customer-facing kitchen Strong communication and time management skills Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for long periods in a fast-paced environment At 8th St., we’re not just serving food—we’re serving purpose.
