DIRECTIONAL DRILL OPERATOR CDL-A Preferred Americom Technologies LLC is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team in our OSP Department. The OSP Department is responsible for underground infrastructure placing conduit, fiber, and copper to support telecommunications, data networks, and fire mitigation. JOB SUMMARY A Horizontal/Directional Drill Locator/ Operator is specially trained and has expertise in locating utilities for horizontal/directional drill rigs and product support equipment. This individual will be primarily responsible for setup and completion of drilling variable sized underground bore holes and pulling back required conduit/pipe. As a Directional Driller/Equipment Operator, you are responsible for running a variety of directional drilling equipment; Directional Drill, (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch) Vac. Truck, Mud Truck, Excavator, Forklift, Dump truck, Locator, along with others not listed. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESLocate utilities for Horizontal Directional Drill for installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable.Operate Horizontal Directional DrillAssist in potholing and remediation.Assist with setting hand holes and completing tie-ins.Set equipment up including the drill, water tanks and the grounding for the drill.Ability to properly formulate and mix drilling mud for the site conditions.Ability to perform proper reaming and pull back methods for existing conditions.Follows specifications for the job and company policies. QUALIFICATIONSExperience, minimum 5 years, operating a directional drill (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch).Competent person certificates with MSHA and OSHA preferred.Ensure safety of the public and other utilities underground facilities.Ability to read and comprehend utility locate information.Oversee laborers and/or crew members work and monitor time usage.Ability to properly clean and maintain the equipment, check fluid levels, and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure your vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, perform the required pre-trip, post trip inspections and the required reports, perform needed maintenance including winterizing equipment.Communicates with Supervisor daily to turn in required reports (i.e. Bore log, vehicle maintenance reports, crew time logs etc.)Complies with safety procedures on and off the project site.Strive for optimal production while working safely and performing quality work. CERTIFICATIONS (PREFERRED)OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30Competent Person certificationClass A CDL WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSOutdoor work in varied weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, etc.)Exposure to noise, heavy equipment, and construction environmentsTravel between multiple job sites as required.Able to lift up to 80 lbs.Stand and walk for extended periods.Climb ladders, enter trenches, vaults, manholes, and confined spaces.
